A Whole Year has gone by

Well, it's been almost a whole year since the last time I wrote anything here.  Things are pretty much the same.  I've moved once, and am moving again at the end of the week, so the kids are bugging me because we haven't got the Christmas Tree set up yet.  I don't see the point until I move.

Anyhoo, things are good, all is well, but it's -40 without the wind outside, so we're all pretty much staying inside (except for work, they still make us go).

A Newfie Mother's Letter to her son

I've been looking for this for ages and finally found it again!  WAHOOOO!!!!!

    Deer Son,

I am writing this slow because I know you can't read too fast. We don't live where we did when you left. Your Dad read in the paper that most car accidents happened within twenty mile of home, so we moved. I can't send you the address as the last Newfie family that lived here took the numbers with them for their next house so they wouldn't have to change their address.

This place has a washing machine, but the first day I put four shirts in it, pulled the chain and haven't seen them since.

It rained only twice last week - three days the first time and four days the second.

About the coat you wanted me to send you. Aunt Sue said it would be a little too heavy to send in the mail with them heavy buttons, so we cut them off and put them in the pockets.

We got a bill from the funeral home and it said that if we didn't make the last payment on Grandma's funeral, up she comes.

About your sister - she had a baby this morning. I haven't found out whether it's a boy or a girl, so I don't know if you are an aunt or an uncle.

Your Uncle John fell in the whiskey vat. Some men tried to pull him out, but he bravely fought them off and drowned. We cremated him and he burned for three days.

Three of your friends went off the bridge in their pick-up. One was driving and the other two were in the back. The driver got out - he rolled down the window and swam to safety. The other two drowned - they couldn't get the tailgate open.

Aunt Mabel is knitting you some socks. She would have sent them by now, but I told her that you had grown another foot since she last saw you, so she has to knit another one.

Not much more news this time. Nothing much has happened.

    Love,
    Mom

    Still Kicking

Just thought I'd drop a line to say I'm still around.  Been busy getting nothing accomplished, trying to find a new place, as per usual.

Well, that's it for now.  Will let everyone know how things are going again hopefully soon.

Why does everyone love a REAL Christmas Tree?

A little while back, Mom came into town after cleaning out some of her place and brought me two Christmas tree stands.  I decided that this year, we would get a real tree.  The kids have never experienced a real tree and they don't understand why I never want one.

So the oldest and I are out on a hunt for a tree.  In previous years, I've seen tree lots at least every three blocks, ya think I could find ONE?  Eventually, we discovered trees at Superstore.  So we go and look at the trees (which are in a fenced off area outside the store) and find one we like, now to find out how to pay for it.  Of course, there's a sign that says to "Please Pay Inside" so we pick up the tree and start going inside.  We walk through the doors and set off the "you stole something" sensor, which freaks out the little man guarding the doors.  We asked him what we should do, how to pay for the tree.  He's a little confused but says to leave the tree out between the doors and take the tag in, so back through the doors we go (setting off the alarm again) and set the tree down, we take the tag off the tree and back into the store (sensor again).  We go to customer service and hand her the tag, which is probably the only one that didn't have the scan part on it so she had to look up the price.  She rings it all through, I give her the money, and we leave.  We go out the doors (yes, alarm again) and the little man wants to see the receipt, so back in we go (alarm) show him the receipt to make him happy, and leave again (alarm, it was getting fun, I wanted to keep going in and out).  We pick up the tree and throw it into the back of the van to take it home.

Now we need to make a spot for the tree.  I take the dog kennel and move it from the front door area and put it by the back door by the dog's food dish.  I shove the desk over against the book shelf and voila, there's a spot for the tree.  I get the oldest to clean off the tree stand (there was bird shit on it from being in the quanset at mom's), we put the tree in it, fill it up with water and put the nice pretty new tree skirt around it.  This has been a long and tiring thing, so come to the conclusion that the decorations can wait until the next day (give the tree a chance to "settle" anyway).

So the next day, I pull out the lights and straghten out the tree skirt (damn cat likes to play), well, the skirt is wet, WTF?  Fine, we'll grab the other stand!  So we get the other stand and have to clean that one off.  I undo the screws on the stand and fight with the tree to get it out, I lift and put the tree onto the other stand and can't figure out why it doesn't feel right; I guess I didn't undo the stand well enough, cuz I had the one stand attached to the tree sitting on top of the other stand.  Well, it's not like I can hold it from the bottom and wiggle it free.  I get it out and into the new stand finally and SHOVE the tree into the corner.  I fill it with water, put the skirt on, and decide to put the lights on.  Of course, because the tree has been shoved into the corner, I can't put the lights all the way around, so I put them from one side over to the other and then back again until it's all the way to the top.  Then it's time to take the oldest to dance class.

So we get home from dance and the two younger ones have put their ornaments on the tree, so I get mine and start putting them on the tree as well.  I put on one ornament, and two fall off.  I get them on and three fall off.  I manage to get about five to stay on the tree and decide that's enough.  I can't get a string of lights to work (they've got the spinning ornaments) and get frustrated and decide they don't need to spin this year.

We're sitting on the couch watching tv and I notice something odd out the corner of my eye and there's the tree, slowing making it's way to being horizontal instead of vertical.  Well, it hits the couch and the majority of the ornaments are now on the floor, and because of the way the lights were put on, they're on the floor as well.  That's it, I erect the tree again, and tilt it into the corner, pick up the lights and set them on the tree, and move the ornaments so they won't be stepped on.

    Is Christmas done yet?

What do I want to be when I grow up?

It's that age old question, and we're always trying to figure it out.  Sometimes we think we know, then we change our mind, only to eventually go back to the original idea.  I've done lots of soul searching to figure it out, and I think I might finally have my answer, one I came to before I was done High School.  It's been a long road, and it's taken many turns; I've done the Administration thing (secretary, receptionist, order desk, etc.), worked in the Construction industry doing electrical (both residential and commercial), driven a school bus, worked in a video store, and worked for a car rental place.  The most recent job is teaching assistant at a local college.  When I was in school, I wanted to be a scientist, lawyer, or a teacher.  I've decided that I want to be a teacher.  Now I just have to figure out if I want to teach Elementary, Junior High or High School.  If I decide to go with Elementary, it's the big question of what grade level, and then you have to know everything (math, English, social, art, music, gym, etc.) but if you go into Junior High or High School, you focus on only one subject, and then there's more decisions, what subject would I be able to teach?  I'm not so sure that I want to stay with Adult Education; I can't handle dealing with "stupid" adults, the kids are more understandable to be "stupid", they haven't learned everything yet.  Of course, this means going back to school again and more student loans, but it gives me something to aim for.  I like to have a purpose in life, and I think this is a pretty good purpose.

Well, must get some housework done, then hit the hay.

Y'all take care and have a good week!

    Look at me, I'm updating!

Well, I seem to have a hard time updating.  Let's see what we can remember here.

    December:
Of course, there was Christmas and a couple kid's birthdays.  It all went off without a hitch, for the most part.  The little one, who's birthday is just days before Christmas, only had one friend show up.  That's ok, we all had fun anyway.  Santa brought me a DVD recorder, that's so much fun.  We have the movie channels so we're recording a lot of movies (shhh, don't tell).  It took me a bit to figure out how to "finalize" the disk to be able to watch it on other DVD players, but we got it figured out.  Just before New Year's, we went up to Mom's new place and spent a couple days up there.  I had to get new tires for the van before we went though.  The kids and the dog now understand why I want to be in a place like that.  It's so nice and peaceful and quiet, and LOADS of room for the dog to run around.  I think mom liked us coming up to visit, but I think she also liked it when we left.  I try to keep the kids out of her hair, but it doesn't always work.

    January:
I honestly don't remember much about January, it was pretty uneventful.  I worked and came home every day, then did it again the next day.  There was some reno's being done at work.  We got new carpets around that time in there.

    February:
Yet another month of a whole lotta nothing.  Should've been a good month, but there was no love interest, so nothing happening there.   More of going to work and home, and of course church.  Still have snow on the ground so can't do much in the way of yard work.

    March:
Hmm, March.  What happened in March?  OMG, I lead a boring existence.  I still have the same vehicle, I still live in the same place, I still work at the same place, I still have the same job description, it's almost like being in a "rut".  That's ok, it's a comfy rut.

    April:
This month, my oldest got confirmed.  She was so excited.  Mom was going to come down for this, but they were calling for a big snow storm.  We all understood, but mom still felt really bad for not making it down.  My sister came with her kids and one kid from school came.  She had lots of love with her.  We had an open house at the preist's place, boy, I love that house.  We had food and cake and coffee and pop and juice, and lots of people come to visit to say congrats.  So now the oldest is allowed to do stuff with Youth, I think that's the best part for her; something she gets to do with church that her little sisters don't get to do.

    May:
    Camping Season Begins!!!
So we went camping May long weekend.  My trailer is up at mom's place so we got to use the tent.  My air mattresses are in the trailer, so we got to squeeze four of us (and a dog) onto a futon mattress.  That's ok, it was kinda chilly and it made us cuddle.  Body heat kept us warm.  On Sunday, we went into Blairmore for lunch and the oldest was a little upset because the boy she likes wasn't home, he was out with friends.  But now his parents know she likes him.  HA HA HA!!  I love camping with the people from church, they're so much fun.  We decided Canada Day weekend, we're going to camp in mom's "back yard".  Other than camping the one weekend, not much else happened in May.

    June:
See, now we're all caught up to this month!  I knew I could do it.  The beginning of June, the oldest went camping with Youth; I don't know if she saw the boy she likes this time, but she had fun anyway.  They got to fix stairs and pick up garbage and a bunch of other fun "clean up the park" type of stuff.  She went swimming and everything.  So they did get to do some fun stuff too, not just work.

I've come to the conclusion that with my one income, I'm never going to be able to afford a mortgage in this city for a real house, the house prices are insane.  I've decided to see about buying a mobile home in the park behind my gramma's place.  You can pick them up for under $50,000 and if I can't qualify for that kind of mortgage, then I need to do some serious looking at what I'm doing wrong.  Hopefully, I'll find out something on that in the next week or two.

I have started to get more responsibility at work too.  I'm now the "go to person" when it comes to Simply Accounting.  The boss wants to put me in the learning center full time, hopefully by July 1.  That's exciting.  He also said, that if I want to get any certifications, he'll help me out with that too.

Well, I think we're all caught up for now.  I'll try to stay caught up, but I get so busy with other things that I tend to forget to make it over this way.

Hope y'all are enjoying the weather, it's quite nice here today (we had a bit of rain the last couple of weeks, closed roads and everything) and hope all is good with everyone!

    Quick Hello

Well, thought I'd put a little something here to let y'all know I'm still alive.  I've been busy (but getting nothing accomplished) so I haven't updated in a while.  I will try to update from December until now, but I'm not sure I'll remember what all happened.  It sucks getting old.  I'm going to have to put pictures of my puppy on here, he's a good dog.  We have grown attached to him.  Funny how something furry becomes a part of the family, just like another one of the kids.  Hmm, something to make you think.

Well, must go to bed, gotta work in the morning.  I hope to be back soon.

    Hope everyone is doing good.

Do I Remember How to Do This?

Wow, it has been so long.  I have been so neglectful.  We managed to get the van all decked out with a hitch and a plate for the tent trailer.  We even got to take the tent trailer camping, it was touch and go there for a bit, not sure if it was going to be ready in time.
    SEPTEMBER
First of all, I finished school WITH HONORS!  Wahoo, look at the goody goody.  LOL  I did a little bit of working at the painting company in the mornings, plus my cleaning, landscaping on weekends, and working evenings.  The oldest has her confirmation classes on Monday nights, so I miss those because of working.  Camping season is officially over for the year, so the tent trailer is at mom's place.
    OCTOBER
One of the ladies from the school has left on medical leave so the receptionist has been moved to her position and they asked me to take over the full time receptionist position during the day.  I managed for a while to work Monday mornings at the painting company and then work the one evening a week at the school, then working the rest of the week during the day at the school.  It took out my cleaning jobs, I do my landscaping on Saturday afternoons, and I still miss confirmation class on Monday nights.  Every second Thursday night is payroll at the painting company, so I go over there after work at the school.  Mom has decided now that she's retired, it's time to sell the house in the city and buy an acerage in the country.  Now I'm jealous, I want my acerage!  LOL  One day, I'll get it.  I bought a utility trailer from people at church, I just need a bill of sale so I can get a plate for that one.  So both the tent trailer and utility trailer get to go on another journey, out to the country.
    NOVEMBER
Well, what happened in November?  Not a whole lot.  I really don't remember too much happening this month.  This was the month that mom moved out to her little retirement abode.  I got a couple fish out of her pond, and boy do they want a bigger tank.  My tank is a little smaller than the pond in mom's old backyard.  I am working full time at the school now, no Monday mornings at the painting place.  It has slowed down there so I go in Sunday nights and do up the paperwork and then it gets shipped off on Monday when the guy comes for the school shipments.

Ok, I'm going to stop for now, this has taken me a few days to do.  I'll do December to now in a day or two.

Y'all take care and have a great day!

    Catch Up Time

Wow, it's been a while, a whole month there with no blog!  I'm so slipping.  I'm done going to physio from my accident so I have a little bit more free time, but not too much.

So school is still going good, I'm so close to being done I can almost smell it.  It's looking like I'll be done in three weeks.  I'm almost done Simply Accounting and then I do three days of Personal Computers (something about taking them apart and putting them back together, cuz I've never done that before) and then Access.  I'm getting giddy thinking about being done.  I've spent a couple of days covering the front reception as they were trying to slow me down and now it looks like I'll be doing the evening reception position starting soon, probably next week or so.

I'm still doing my landscaping and house cleaning jobs, and I got two more cleaning jobs, so that's keeping me busy and keeping cash in my pocket, so that's always a bonus.  The only downside is how busy I am.  It'll all pay off in the end though.  Once the kids are back in school it won't seem as bad because most of my side jobs are during the day.

I've got another job doing the administration at a small painting company.  It's strange going to school to learn to do what I'm doing at work.  But at least I'll get a diploma when I'm done school.  The boss might think that I'll leave him or something but I won't, I really like the job and it's nice that I'm the only one there most of the time.  He's got me organizing the office and trying to fix what's been messed up before I got there.  It shouldn't be too hard, I'm getting there.

I'm almost kinda dating the guy from church that I had my eye on (the brother of the lady that I clean for).  He's got some personal stuff that he has to get sorted out before he wants to commit to me and the kids.  I really respect him for that, and it makes me want him that much more.  I'm sure it'll work out for us, I think we're a good match.  He wants a baby, a son to be more precise, and I'm willing to try to help him out with that, but this time I want to be married first.

I got a tent trailer through the same lady who I clean for (she's great to have around I tell ya).  Now I just need to get a trailer hitch and get some plates or something for it so I can use it for the camping weekend.  I'm not sure if the kids are more excited or if I am.

Well, apparently I get to take the silly child to the store to get socks and underwear, so I guess I'll stop for now.  Hope everyone else has been having a good time!  Enjoy the weekend, the sun is supposed to come back, or so I've heard.  Take care!

    Bored

So much to do, so little energy. I have no clue what to do today, should probably clean, but where's the fun in that? I have been a bad blogger lately, barely been blogging! I'm doing good in school; I'm doing ACCPAC right now, then I do Simply Accounting then Microsoft Access, then I'm done. I'm hoping to have ACCPAC done by the end of the month, I'm sure I'll be able to do it. My oldest daughter is going to be Confirmed this year in church, I'm so excited! I was in a sudden good mood on Monday when I got home and had to bust my ass to clean the house and get supper cooked and kids fed before the other Confirmants came with the teacher, well, to my surprise, another person came (the guy I like from church). I was so happy after that, I was almost like a giddy school girl. I talked to his sister the next day and she didn't know that's where he was, she thought he was at work. Apparently he was grumpy when he left his house but was in a good mood when he got home; I'm hoping I had a little something to do with that. Well, I have nothing more to write right now, or at least I can't think of anything, so I'll stop for now. Y'all take care and have a great day! Catch ya on the flipside Carrie

    I've Revamped the Other Space

I decided it was time to redo the other space.  I want to get my business going and I figured I should do something with the Landscaping space to be able to promote my landscaping.  I have already go three contracts this year and I might be getting two more.  That would be so awesome.

I haven't updated in a while so I'll let you know what's been going on.  Back on June 02, I was rear ended coming home; nothing serious, the van is fine, but I am going to physio because my back and neck are sore.

My parents are retiring this year, 10 years earlier than most people, and their house will be paid off, if not when they retire then very shortly after.  I am a little jealous of them being able to retire, but I am very happy for them, they've worked hard and they deserve to be able to sit back and enjoy what they've accomplished.

I've completed more of my course, not sure of the percentage that I'm sitting at, but I'm sure it's still in the 90's somewhere.  I'm about 18 or 19 days ahead of schedule, and I think I'm going to get further ahead.  I just started ACCPAC on Thursday, and I'm flying through that.

Ok, time to run, y'all have a great day!  Catch ya on the flip side!

Shhh, I'm updating while at school

Well, I'm sitting here picking my nose (not really, but it'd be more productive).  I've finished my project for PowerPoint and I don't have time to write the exam, so I'll do that Monday, so now I get to sit around for about half an hour and waste some time.  Hmm, what to write?

I've started cleaning for another lady from church, I'm sure I've mentioned it before.  She lives way down on the other side of the city.  I went and cleaned for her again today before I came to school, and that's not where I have the issue.  When I left it was raining, just a little, and with this city, it can be pouring rain in one area, but across the street it isn't.  I'm sure it's like that everywhere.  Anyhoo, straying from my point.  As I'm flying down Deerfoot Trail on my way to school, suddenly my windshield wiper on the passenger side decides it doesn't like to be where it is, so it flips sideways (not cleaning the windshield at this point) so I pull over to the side and fix it, I'm one of those crazy people who like to see when I'm driving, from the WHOLE windshield.  So I fix it and get back into the 100 km traffic (60 mi/hr).  Off I go, still on my way to school, get off Deerfoot and going up the next road, turn, turn again, go around a corner, and the other wiper flips.  Well, Holy Hannah!  This is the driver's side, that one's really important!  Well, pull over again.  Thank God it was a 50 km street and not still Deerfoot.  I fix that and get to school, finally.  I get out of the van and get my stuff and notice I got crap on my shirt from cleaning.  Well, most people like Friday's, I find them a pain in the rump roast.  I'm so busy and nothing seems to go right.  Last time I cleaned for the lady way down south there was an accident on Deerfoot, so I was delayed going to her house and still coming back to school in the afternoon.  Every other day, that road is fine and the weather is fine.  Who'da thunk it?

Ok, time to waste time doing something else now.

    Y'all take care

Catch ya on the flip side!

And you thought MSN wasn't dangerous

I’m sure we’ve all seen this before, but it’s always nice to get a refresher.

Not really funny and possibly not based on a true story, but still something to think about.

Shannon could hear the footsteps behind her as she walked toward home. The thought of being followed made her heart beat faster. "You're being silly," she told herself, "no one is following you."

To be safe, she began to walk faster, but the footsteps kept up with her pace. She was afraid to look back and she was glad she was almost home. Shannon said a quick prayer, "God, please get me home safe."

She saw the porch light burning and she leaned against the door for a moment, relieved to be in the safety of her home. She glanced out the window to see if anyone was there. The sidewalk was empty.

After tossing her books on the sofa, she decided to grab a snack and get on-line. She logged on under her screen name ByAngel213. She checked her Buddy List and saw GoTo123 was on. She sent him an instant message:

ByAngel213: Hi. I'm glad you are on! I thought someone was following me home today. It was really weird!

GoTo123: LOL. You watch too much TV. Why would someone be following you? Don't you live in a safe neighborhood?

ByAngel213: Of course I do. LOL. I guess it was my imagination cuz' I didn't see anybody when I looked out.

GoTo123: Unless you gave your name out on-line. You haven't done that have you?

ByAngel213: Of course not. I'm not stupid you know.

GoTo123: Did you have a softball game after school today?

    ByAngel213: Yes and we won!!

GoTo123: That's great! Who did you play?

ByAngel213: We played the Hornets. LOL. Their uniforms are so gross! They look like bees. LOL

GoTo123: What is your team called?

ByAngel213: We are the Canton Cats. We have tiger paws on our uniforms. They are really cool.

GoTo123: Did you pitch? ByAngel213: No I play second base. I got to go. My homework has to be done before my parents get home. I don't want them mad at me. Bye!

    GoTo123: Catch you later. Bye

Meanwhile...GoTo123 went to the member menu and began to search for her profile. When it came up, he highlighted it and printed it out. He took out a pen and began to write down what he knew about Angel so far:

    Her name: Shannon

    Birthday: Jan. 3, 1985

    Age: 13

State where she lived: North Carolina

Hobbies: Softball, chorus, skating and going to the mall.

Besides this information, he knew she lived in Canton because she had just told him. He knew she stayed by herself until 6:30 p.m. every afternoon until her parents came home from work. He knew she played softball on Thursday afternoons on the school team, and the team was named the Canton Cats. Her favorite number 7 was printed on her jersey. He knew she was in the eighth grade at the Canton Junior High School.

She had told him all this in the conversations they had on- line. He had enough information to find her now.

Shannon didn't tell her parents about the incident on the way home from the ballpark that day. She didn't want them to make a scene and stop her from walking home from the softball games. Parents were always overreacting, and hers were the worst. It made her wish she were not an only child. Maybe if she had brothers and sisters, her parents wouldn't be so overprotective.

By Thursday, Shannon had forgotten about the footsteps following her. Her game was in full swing when suddenly she felt someone staring at her. It was then that the memory came back. She glanced up from her second base position to see a man watching her closely.

He was leaning against the fence behind first base and he smiled when she looked at him. He didn't look scary and she quickly dismissed the sudden fear she had felt.

After the game, he sat on a bleacher while she talked to the coach. She noticed his smile once again as she walked past him. He nodded and she smiled back. He noticed her name on the back of her shirt. He knew he had found her.

Quietly, he walked a safe distance behind her. It was only a few blocks to Shannon's home, and once he saw where she lived he quickly returned to the park to get his car.

Now he had to wait. He decided to get a bite to eat until the time came to go to Shannon's house. He drove to a fast food restaurant and sat there until time to make his move.

Shannon was in her room later that evening when she heard voices in the living room.

"Shannon, come here," her father called. He sounded upset and she couldn't imagine why. She went into the room to see the man from the ballpark sitting on the sofa.

"Sit down," her father began, "this man has just told us a most interesting story about you."

Shannon sat back. How could he tell her parents anything? She had never seen him before today!

"Do you know who I am, Shannon?" the man asked.

    "No," Shannon answered.

"I am a police officer and your online friend, GoTo123."

Shannon was stunned. "That's impossible! GoTo is a kid my age! He's 14. And he lives in Michigan!"

The man smiled. "I know I told you all that, but it wasn't true. You see, Shannon, there are people on-line who pretend to be kids; I was one of them. But while others do it to find kids and hurt them, I belong to a group of parents who do it to protect kids from predators. I came here to find you to teach you how dangerous it is to talk to people on-line. You told me enough about yourself to make it easy for me to find you. You named the school you went to, the name of your ball team and the position you played. The number and name on your jersey just made finding you a breeze."

Shannon was stunned. "You mean you don't live in Michigan?"

He laughed. "No, I live in Raleigh. It made you feel safe to think I was so far away, didn't it?"

    She nodded.

"I had a friend whose daughter was like you. Only she wasn't as lucky. The guy found her and murdered her while she was home alone. Kids are taught not to tell anyone when they are alone, yet they do it all the time on-line. The wrong people trick you into giving out information a little here and there on-line. Before you know it, you have told them enough for them to find you without even realizing you have done it. I hope you've learned a lesson from this and won't do it again. Tell others about this so they will be safe too?"

    "It's a promise!"

That night Shannon and her Dad and Mom all knelt down together and thanked God for protecting Shannon from what could have been a tragic situation.

    *****NOW*****

Please send this to as many people as you can to teach them not to give any information about themselves. This world we live in today is too dangerous to even give out your age, let alone anything else.

SEND THIS TO PEOPLE WITHOUT KIDS SO THEY CAN SEND IT TO FRIENDS WHO DO HAVE CHILDREN OR GRANDCHILDREN

    The Long Awaited Update

Ok, I have no clue exactly what I'm sitting at right now percentage wise in school, but it probably isn't too far away from where I was the last time I updated.  I've finished a couple more "subjects" and tomorrow I do my exam for the first half of manual accounting.  Based on what I've done in class and handed in, I'm sitting at 98% (just for the accounting).  I asked the teacher how she thinks I'll do on the test because she's the one who marks my homework, and she says I should do fine.  I just hope my mind doesn't go blank.

A couple of weeks ago, the kids and I stopped at the mall and it was quite windy.  One of the kids opened the door on the van and the wind grabbed it and flung it open.  Lucky there wasn't a vehicle beside us there.  So then I open my door and I guess the wind was on both sides of the van because it grabbed my door too!  Go figure.  Well, apparently my door didn't like it because it wasn't shutting properly and I couldn't open it from the outside; I've been crawling through from the passenger side to get in and damn near putting my shoulder out trying to get out.  Today I got it fixed.  One of the deacon's from church was nice and fixed it for me.  It was kinda strange not having to throw my shoulder into it to get out tonight.

So I started a long while back cleaning for one lady from church and that has been passed off to the oldest (although I'm tempted to take it back or stop it all together) and then I got another lady from church who wanted me to clean for her once a month, so I've done that a few times.  Then last weekend, a lady from one of the other churches asked me if I wanted to clean for her, so I'm starting that tomorrow.  She later asked me if I wanted to do her yardwork, and I said I would, then the first lady that I clean for once a month asked me if I would do her yardwork if she can convince her husband to let me do it.  I am going to be so busy with my side jobs that I won't have time for a real job!  LOL I've also got my two landscaping contracts again that I had last year.  I'm so excited.

Ok, time to go, get some stuff done before the busy day tomorrow.  Hope y'all are doing good and are enjoying the nice spring weather.

    Take Care!

    Soon, Very soon

I know it's been a while since I've updated, and I will try to do a full update soon.  As it stands right now, I'm sitting at 92% in school. I'm 11 days ahead of schedule. I'm doing Manual Accounting right now (so excited, NOT) and all seems to be going pretty good.  Gotta run, will update later.

    School Days Are Here Again

    March 27th:
Well, day one came and went of "Carrie's Adventures of Back to School" and it seemed to go okay.  The first section is Windows.  Well, I use it every day on my computer and the laptop, so there aren't too many surprises there.  The outline says I have 8 days to do this section, and I'm already almost done day two of it.  I think in a couple more days I'll have it done and I can get on to the next part.  I am so excited to be doing this.  It's so much fun!  I really really want to do good in this, get the highest marks and all that fun stuff.

    March 28th:
Today went pretty ok.  I went and did the school thing then after decided to check out the book store to see if a book I need comes with an extra book that I kinda need (but not necessarily) but doesn't always come with.  I get to the book store and notice a truck coming towards me that looks familiar.  I look closer and, sure enough, it's the truck I think it is.  It's Claude (the siding guy from the old place) with his dog.  One of the first things he feels the need to mention is Brian and the work he's done on his truck.  Well, of all people to run into, who would've thunk it!

    March 29
Today was a day from HELL!  Kinda.  LOL  I get to school and can't log into the computer because the security log is full.  I had to wait for an administrator to come and log in and clear things out before I could do anything.  So I get through the Windows module and write the final test, after that is the final project.  They allow 90 minutes for the test and I finished it in just over 20 minutes.  Not sure of how much time it's going to take me to actually do the project, I decide the best bet is to do it first thing the next day (I had an hour and a half left of school and they give three hours to do it).  I start on the next module which is Word 2003 and almost get through the first section before it's time to leave.  So I sign out on the computer and go out to the van.  Well, it looks like it's sitting a little "askew".  I get over to the van and, sure enough, I've got a flat tire.  Well crap!  Damn good thing I decided to get AMA.  In the many years I've been driving, I've never before gotten AMA and I never needed it.  I've had my AMA for about a month and I needed it.  So the guy comes and fills my tire and I manage to get to Canadian Tire to get it fixed.  I'm sure it would've lasted a while, but who wants to risk it.  Then I go to the bookstore to get the book I need to do the next section of my schooling, the damn thing isn't in the computer so the poor girl behind the counter has to work her ass off to get it rung in.

Well, I did the final project today for Windows.  I was given three hours to do it and I finished it in just less than an hour.  I got a 98% because there was ONE THING I couldn't find.  Drove me nuts.  The instructor almost couldn't find it, but she did in the end, then I couldn't find it again to undo it.  It was one of those things that just wasn't coming to me.  But it's done and I don't have to worry about it now.  Now I'm full force into Word and there are no "progress checks" throughout.  Just a couple of projects to do during the module and the final at the end.  I'm done the first two tutorials and I have an exam after tutorial 6, then I do four more tutorials and have a 90 minute exam, a 5 hour project, then another 90 minute exam.  Now I just need to figure out which printer to set up to be able to print my stuff; I have no clue if I am supposed to be printing off my stuff for the instructor or if she only worries about my final tests and projects.  I have to talk to her first thing tomorrow about that.  She gets pretty busy so I have to catch her as soon as I get there.

Ok, stuff to do, books to read.  Hope ya'll have been doing good since the last time, and hope things are good until the next time.

    The Three Larry's

Well, I wanted to share my joke with y'all.  I heard it many years back from a bartender at The Crossroads Saloon.

There were these three girls who were friends and they all had boyfriends named Larry.  One day, to avoid the confusion, they decided that they would give their boyfriend's nick-names and that they would name them after soda pop.  So the first one thinks of a name right away.  "I think I'm going to nick-name my Larry Mountain Dew."  The other two look at her and ask where she came up with that name.  "Well, he's always mountin' and doin' me."  They accept it and continue thinking of their own names for their boyfriends.  The next day, the second one says to her friends, "I think I'll name my Larry 7-Up."  The other two looked at her strangely so she continued "He's 7 inches always up."  Ok, they can accept that one too.  The third one is thinking and thinking, and she thinks some more (she could be blonde, we aren't sure).  Finally, she says to her friends, "I think I'll name my Larry Tequila."  Her friends look at her and say "Tequila, that's not a soda pop, that's a hard liquor."  The third one replies, "That's my Larry!"

    Still Kicking

Well, I've had this space for just over a year now, and I still keep coming back, and I've noticed that some of the same people are still coming back.  That's nice, I like that.  Checkin the stats, I'm nearing the 15000 mark.  Just shy of 20 away.  I know I don't update as often as I used to, and I don't visit spaces like I did, but I do try.  I am also trying to not be on the computer as much, spend more time doing house stuff, and that's going pretty good for me so far, but it cuts down on the space surfing.

I went down to talk to the guy Monday about going back to school.  That was a long morning without a smoke (9 - 12) all to get to the point of, I start on the 27th of March and I'll be done by the end of September.  I am so excited and nervous all at the same time.  I hope I do as good as I want to do.  I want to get in the 90's for the whole thing.  Got my fingers crossed (although I'll have to uncross them to type).  LOL

Paws is getting to the point where he's got to start listening.  I'm sure all his big boy teeth are in so he shouldn't be chewing as much as he has been.  He's destroyed one pair of my shoes, he took the insole out of one of my steel toed boots and destroyed that, and tonight he destroyed one of Hailey's dress shoes.  He's wrecked numerous socks, mostly the old ones, but some that I JUST bought.  He's got chew toys, so I don't know what his issue is.  He had a nubby ball that was made for dogs, but he tore that up.  He's got a rope and a tennis ball.  He had two tennis balls, but one is in pieces in the garbage.  I think I need to do something, but I don't know what.  Hmmmm.

I don't like the snow melting right now.  I have muddy paw prints all over the house.  The kids weren't aware that when he comes in, his paws need to be cleaned off, there's a towel there for that purpose.  They'll learn, it's all still new to them.

Well, time for laundry and bed, catch y'all on the flip side!
